Luke Westman, MSW, LICSW
Therapist
Luke is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with five years of experience in the mental health field. Currently, he serves as a Level III EBD Case Manager in the public school system and works as a therapist with adults, adolescents, children, and families.
In addition to his role in the public school system, Luke’s diverse career background in the trucking industry and his service in the Army provide a unique perspective that enriches his therapeutic approach. He effectively grounds clinical theory in the lived experiences of those seeking therapeutic help.
Luke has expertise in understanding that presenting problems such as complex trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, prolonged grief, stress, and phase-of-life transitions affect individuals differently. He views the therapeutic setting as a non-judgmental space where people can be heard, be accepted for who they are, and engage in a process of personal discovery. This environment helps clients develop a new interpretation of their individuality, fostering mindful presence in their daily lives.
Integrating behavioral and dynamic techniques, Luke guides the therapeutic process by emphasizing the mutuality of lived experiences within the therapeutic relationship. He focuses on emotional and cognitive awareness, identifying themes and behavioral patterns, understanding the impact of relationships and events on personality development, and exploring values that guide behavior. By uniting these techniques, Luke helps clients achieve a new vision of freedom and authenticity.
In his spare time, Luke enjoys staying active with his wife and their six children, engaging in various outdoor activities and family adventures. He has a passion for reading, particularly in the areas of philosophy and psychology, which continually enhance his professional insights. Luke also enjoys the strategic challenge of playing chess, the immersive experience of watching movies, and the creativity of gaming. His diverse interests contribute to his well-rounded approach to life and therapy.
